Ruby Slippers Playlist for Friday Feb.1 7-8 pm

Hey, everybody!

Hope you enjoyed the weather's reprieve this week, and can now accept what Mother Nature throws at us for the rest of the month.  Personally it got me geared up for another show with a spring in my step and a song in my heart.
This week is heavy on artists from The Land Down Under.  A good friend from Adelaide is celebrating a special birthday this week, and to commemorate that just had to find some tunes from Home Sweet Home.  I have marked them as such, and hope you will be inspired to look for some of these artists in your musical travels.

Ruby Slippers Playlist for Jan 25 7-8 pm

Good Lord!
I am very early posting this list for the upcoming Friday show, (it is WAY too cold to be outside) and not to wreck any surprises, but it has turned out to be fun and kind of kooky.  There are some new cuts  (Sally Shapiro's latest is available as a free download! Score!) and I am kind of hearting Broken Anchor and Grime Kings from Ottawa.

Well, listen to the show and see for yourself.  The archive function is now back up and running on the CIUT website, so there is a whole week to check it out even if you have an awesome thrill packed Friday planned out of earshot.  Just go to the schedule, click on Ruby Slippers on Monday after the show, and bingo!  (There can be no escape, bruahaha...)

Starman---Sally Shapiro featuring Electric Youth
Holding You---Katie Herzig (released originally for Valentine's Day, sigh)
Jesse, AR---Said The Whale  (Canadian! wave the flag!)
My Body (Tokyo Police Club remix)---Young The Giant
Always Fade---Low  (ah, yes, Low)
Yur Not Ded---Futurebirds
Parking Ticket---The Ride Theory  (Hamilton, Ontario)

Angel or Ghost---Grime Kings (Can.)
hammer down---Eugene Ripper  (brand spankin' new release...originally from Stark Naked and the
                                                     Fleshtones) (Can)
Everything Gonna Be Better Next Year---The Rescues

Ah, I need more time!
Thanks for listening and see you next week.

Heartbeats (Rex the Dog mix)---The Knife
Air War---Crystal Castles
Sad Sad City---Ghostland Observatory

Ruby Slippers Playlist for Jan 11 7-8 pm

Hey everybody!

So much for more music, minimal talk.  New Year's resolutions are made to be broken, right?
Lots of music from the Hamilton area today, and a few favorites from the last several months, too.
By the way if you had a gander at the NOW list  of the Top 50 Canadian Albums of all time, you would notice that Mary Margaret O'Hara from Dec. 28th's show made the list!  Had a chuckle at that, as I had never heard of the album until it hit the radar here over the holidays courtesy of Dan and Chris Berube, musicologists in their own rights. (They did an awesome fill in show from noon til 2 Jan 7, hope you heard it!)
Well, enough already, here we go.

Techno Soul Glue---The Rheostatics
Human Behaviour---Bjork
Gonna Pee---Quadriplegic 12
Take What You Want---The Nines
Namesake---The Hollow Threads
Walk With Me---Memoryhouse
When and Where---Greg Mashinter  (didn't get to this last week)
Season Of The Witch---Donovan
The Close Western---The Rest  (recipients of a Hamilton Music Award for this year)
White heat (Silken Laumann remix)---The Acorn  (bears hearing again)
In Like The Rose---Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Bonus tracks  (Chosen for YOU but didn't make the week, perhaps)
I Don't Want To Change Your Life---Marble Index
More Than This---Roxy Music
It's All Over Now Baby Blue (Dylan cover)---Bad Religion
Magic Carpet Ride---Bedlam
I Know What I Am---Band of Skulls

Thanks for listening!
